Sundown When the House Burned Down
Sigh…another week, another step down the long road of life. Of the precious things a human being will have in the brief moment between coming into the world and leaving it behind, time is the most precious. There are 1440 minutes in each day, and that’s true for everyone, from the wealthiest billionaire to the poorest beggar, and there is no amount of money in the world that will buy a body one second more than is already allotted.
Time passes by, and once it’s gone will never come back. So the question then is, when I wake up in the morning, what will I do with the 1440 minutes of each day? It all goes by quicker than you think. So don’t waste any of it, at least that’s I how see it.
I’m thinking if getting that number inked on my arm as a reminder…1440.
1439…
1438…
Tick…tick…
More images that didn’t the final release, but are still good to look at…
(I particularly like the last one…)
When a melancholy mood falls descends like a sudden and unexpected rainstorm, I find the following procedure helps alleviate the condition:
Pour yourself a chilled drink (my personal preference is a tumbler of Southern Comfort on the rocks.)
Listen to these two tunes in succession:
*interesting factoid: Gordon Lightfoot wrote this song based on his relationship with the woman who later gave John Belushi the drug overdose that led to his expiration.
*no factoid for this. It’s Warren Zevon, that should be enough.
Listen while enjoying your drink. I promise, you’ll feel better afterward.
Finally, as part of this Substack journey, here is a special offer:
